Larson’s Football Junket is Wide Left
With $12 trillion in red ink, no budget in place and a Congress that has the confidence of 1 in 11 Americans, Congressman John Larson has decided to tailgate – but not at Rentschler Field.
Larson’s $2,500 a ticket fundraiser at the September 12th Washington Redskins-Dallas Cowboys [1]game at Fed-Ex Field in Maryland is another example of how completely out-of-touch the East Hartford Democrat has become from voters who can barely afford to pay their cable to watch the game on television, according to Republican State Party Chairman Chris Healy Tuesday.
“John Larson is always ready to have a good time – at someone else’s expense,” said Healy. “Now he is selling access to DC fat cats who can dibble pretzels, drink beer and cheer for two teams hated by a majority of football fans in Connecticut. You would think Larson would be decent enough to have this shindig at Giants stadium.”
Healy said Larson has gone completely Washington and has divorced himself from the concerns of everyday voters in his district who can’t swing a $2,500 ticket but who expect more from a Congressman who claims to be a leader within the majority caucus.
“Can’t John Larson stop partying to pass a budget? To save a few more jobs in East Hartford or to cut our taxes,” Healy asked. “Congress has become a non-fundraiser for Larson, instead of hard work.”
Earlier this year, Larson held a high-priced fundraiser in wine country in Napa Valley, California, and has held similar events throughout the last year to help raise money for himself and other Democrats in need.
“Maybe if John Larson spent a fraction of his time in Connecticut listening to voters, rather than at lavish Parties with partisan pals, he would learn there is a recession going on,” said Healy. “Luckily, the voters know Ann Brickley is a candidate who has held a job in the private sector and understands what people are dealing with while John Larson is parking his behind in a luxury sky box.”
