Labriola Responds to Malloy State of the State Address

Thursday, February 6th, 2014

HARTFORD, CT – Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr released the following statement today in response to Governor Malloy’s State of the State address.

“What we heard today was a speech rich in rhetoric to launch a campaign to save a governorship short on results.

“Instead of proposing any substantive changes to the job-destroying legislation that has been a hallmark of his tenure, Governor Malloy repackaged the same broken promises that filled his 2010 campaign and proposed an election year budget filled with gimmicks and even more spending increases.

“In an insult to the thousands of Connecticut residents who are still unable to find jobs, Dan Malloy continues to claim his policies have been a success. But the numbers don’t lie, while the rest of the nation has seen real economic recovery, Connecticut continues to lag far behind under Dan Malloy’s failed leadership. For 22 months straight, our unemployment rate has far exceeded the national average – 27,000 fewer Connecticut residents are working today than when Dan Malloy took office.”
