Vice-Chairwoman, Themis Klarides
State Representative Themis Klarides was elected Vice-Chairwoman of the Connecticut Republican Party in 2011 and is currently serving her seventh term in the General Assembly representing the 114th Assembly District – the towns of Woodbridge, Orange and Derby. House Republican Leader, Rep. Lawrence Cafero, Jr., appointed Rep. Klarides as Deputy Republican Leader for the first time in 2007. Since then, as Deputy Leader, she continues to be an outspoken leader of the Republican Caucus in issues regarding the state’s financial situation, job creation, education and many others.
A native of Seymour, Themis Klarides was raised around a family supermarket business that helped teach her the value of hard work and the rewards of community involvement. Her commitment to these values is exemplified through her years of community service with various municipal, state and regional groups. She is a former member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Derby, and a former member of the Board of Finance in Seymour.
As a member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Advisory Board of Fairfield County Safe Kids, Rep. Klarides is committed to improving education for all of Connecticut’s children. She actively mentors elementary students through the Derby School Special Friends Program and is a volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. In January 2005, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater Valley Boys and Girls Club. In 2010, Rep. Klarides was given the annual “Champion of Youth” award by the Connecticut Coalition of Boys & Girls Clubs. She also received the 2010 “Children’s Champion” award given annually by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance honoring community leaders and elected officials who show a strong commitment to early childhood issues.
Themis Klarides is a graduate of Trinity College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and later graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law. As a practicing lawyer in the State of Connecticut and in the United States District Court for Connecticut, Rep. Klarides is a partner in the law firm of Klarides & Kaplan in Orange.
RNC Committeeman, The Honorable John H. Frey
State Representative John H. Frey was elected as the Connecticut National Committeeman to the Republican National Committee in January of 2007. He was elected to a full term in June, 2008. On the RNC, he serves on the Rules Committee, Redistricting Committee and Site Selection Committee (which will recommed the location on 2012 National Convention). Rep. Frey won re-election to serve as State Representative for the people of the 111th District on November 4, 2008. Serving in his sixth term, Representative Frey was re-appointed by the House Minority Leader, Larry Cafero, to serve as Minority Whip. Rep. Frey also serves on the Legislature’s Finance, Revenue, & Bonding Committee, the Banks Committee and is the lead Republican on the Select Committee on Aging. Before winning election to the state House of Representatives, former Governor John Rowland appointed Representative Frey ‘Chairman’ of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission in 1995, holding the distinct honor as the commission’s youngest Chairman in state history. Representative Frey is the Principal/Co-owner of Century 21 Landmark Properties in Ridgefield. Since founding the firm in 1992, he has provided full real estate service; specializing in residential, commercial, relocation and fine homes division. Representative Frey’s firm has received the distinguished “President’s Award” for top quality service and high production. Representative Frey resides on Copps Hill Road in Ridgefield.
RNC Committeewoman, Patricia Longo
Mrs. Longo was elected as the Connecticut National Committeeman to the Republican National Committee in January of 2007. He was elected to a full term in June, 2008. Prior to her service as RNC Committeewoman, Mrs. Longo served as Vice Chairwoman of the Connecticut Republican Party for fourteen years. In her capacities supporting the Connecticut Republican Party, Mrs. Longo has been an active fundraiser, grassroots organizer, and coordinator for Connecticut’s delegates to the Republican National Convention for Connecticut. Her most recent efforts have included working with the RNC Women’s group to recruit more women to be active in politics and governing. Mrs. Longo has been active in numerous local, state and national campaigns and is a tireless and dedicated leader in the Connecticut Republican Party.
