Chairman Labriola Responds to New Jobs Numbers

HARTFORD – Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. released the following statement on the new unemployment data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“Today’s jobs report brings welcome good news of lower unemployment and new jobs, but the fact remains that far too many Connecticut citizens are unemployed. Connecticut still boasts the highest costs in the nation for setting up shop and hiring new workers. And that unfortunate reality has been made worse by Governor Malloy and Speaker Donovan’s record tax increases, coddling of union bosses, and the now unbalanced state budget.
“The economic uncertainty that has been created by the failed policies of Dan Malloy, Chris Donovan, and Barack Obama continue to prevent a strong recovery.”

CHAIRMAN LABRIOLA STATEMENT ON BOB TURNER VICTORY
(New Britain) – Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola tonight made the following statement in reaction to Bob Turner’s historic upset victory in New York’s Ninth District:
“Tonight’s historic victory in New York has sent a clear message that voters have had enough of the Democrat’s taxing, spending and borrowing that has lead to stagnate recession and fourteen million Americans still without jobs,” said Labriola. “I’m happy that our Connecticut Republican Party was able to play a small role in this historic upset in traditionally Democratic turf, and confident that these results will carry over to our own elections in 2012.”

BACKGROUND: CONNECTICUT REPUBLICAN PARTY ENGAGES NY-9 SPECIAL ELECTION
Hartford Courant: “The Connecticut GOP clearly views the race as a possible harbinger of the 2012 election, in much the same way some believed Brown’s upset victory in Massachusetts provided a prelude to the Republican takeover of the House in 2010.” (Daniela Altimari, Hartford Courant, 9/9/11)
Connecticut Mirror: “Connecticut’s new GOP state chairman, Jerry Labriola Jr., is urging Republicans here to man the phone banks for Bob Turner in tomorrow’s special election to succeed disgraced U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner in a solidly Democratic district that is tilting Republican, if recent polling is to be believed.” (Mark Pazniokas, Connecticut Mirror, 9/12/11)
Chairman Labriola urges CT Republicans to support Bob Turner. “It’s becoming increasingly clear that the American people are refusing to stand for more of the same failed policies and failed leadership of the Obama administration. And when voters head to the polls tomorrow, they will make that message loud and clear by electing Republican Bob Turner.” (Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr., Republican Party Email, 9/12/11)

Friends,
Republican Bob Turner is surging ahead of his Democratic challenger in the special election to replace Anthony Weiner in New York’s 9th district. A recent poll released Friday showed the retired businessman to be 6 points ahead in a Democratic district that voted heavily for Obama in 2008.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the American people are refusing to stand for more of the same failed policies and failed leadership of the Obama administration. And when voters head to the polls tomorrow, they will make that message loud and clear by electing Republican Bob Turner.
With your help, we can assure a Republican victory for the first time in over 80 years in New York’s 9th District. Without leaving your home, you can make a difference by calling voters to get our message out. See the instructions below to learn how to make calls for Republican Bob Turner from home.
